St Mary’s holds services around three times a month. We have two main types of service. The first is Holy Communion, in which we share bread and wine, following the example of Jesus. The second is Cafe Church, which is a more informal service with refreshments, in one of our village halls. We also have extra services to mark special times in our communities and the church year. At all of our services we read the Bible, pray and sing hymns. After the service we often share tea and coffee.

Everyone is welcome at our services, whether you usually go to church or not. We love including new people. Most people who come live locally, but some travel a significant distance to be with us.

Despite being a Medieval building, you will be delighted to hear that the church has both heating and a toilet!

We also have social events throughout the year. These are also open to everyone, not just people who come to services. We hope that these help people from our villages to get to know each other better.

The services and social events that are coming up are listed below.

St Mary's Leake is an extraordinary grade 1 listed building in the shelter of the North Yorkshire Moors. It was once in the deserted Medieval village of Leake; it is now serves the two thriving modern villages of Borrowby and Knayton. We strive to be at the heart of our local communities - why not come along to one of our services and events?

The church is an oasis of calm next to the busy A19 as it connects York to Teesside. We warmly welcome our "second congregation" who break their journeys here. If you are passing, do call in to look around, explore our long history, or take some time to be quiet and to reflect.
