Welcome to our church.

St Mary’s Church Leake is a beautiful grade 1 listed church in the shelter of the North Yorkshire Moors. It is a place of calm next to the busy A19 as it connects York to Teesside. We are pleased to announce that as the coronavirus precautions have eased, we are now reopening for private visiting and prayer on a regular basis. There are more details here.

The church was once in the deserted Medieval village of Leake; it now serves the two thriving nearby villages of Borrowby and Knayton. We strive to be a Christian presence at the heart of our local communities. We have now have a weekly service and Bible study online. We hope that you will join us. There are more details of how to do so here

If you can’t visit us regularly, you can still keep in touch with us. Become a friend of St Mary’s by signing up for our occasional email newsletters. You can also follow us on Facebook and Twitter.

We are part of the Diocese of York in the Church of England, but we welcome people of all backgrounds. We are also part of a group of churches in the small villages close to the North Yorkshire Moors. If you like visiting us, it is well worth exploring them as well.

If you appreciate our work, please consider making a donation. We are a small local charity and we receive no external funding.

We take our responsibilities to safeguard children and vulnerable adults very seriously. You can read our safeguarding policy here and if you have any safeguarding concerns, you can contact our safeguarding officer here.
